Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following information:

  • Account information: name, email address, and password
  • Profile information: age, gender, height, weight, style preferences, and clothing type preferences
  • Face photo: a photo of your face that you voluntarily upload. These are used solely to generate AI outfit images that resemble you. See Section 3 for full details on how face data is collected, used, shared, and retained.
  • Items photos: photos of clothing items you upload to your items
  • Usage data: outfit ratings, feedback, chat messages, and interaction history
  • Device information: device type, operating system, and app version (mobile only)

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Generate personalized outfit recommendations
  • Create AI-generated outfit images that resemble you, using your face photo (see Section 3)
  • Improve our styling algorithms based on your feedback
  • Communicate with you about the Service
  • Maintain and improve the Service

3. Face Data: Collection, Use, Sharing, and Retention

3a. What Face Data We Collect

Avalon collects a face photo that you voluntarily upload. You may upload one face photo. Uploading a face photo is entirely optional — the app functions without them, but outfit images will show a generic model instead of your likeness.

3b. How We Use Face Data

Your face photo is used for a single purpose: to generate AI-created outfit images that resemble you. When you request an outfit, your face photo is sent to Google's Generative AI API (Google Gemini) along with your item images and style preferences. Google Gemini processes these inputs to produce an outfit image showing how the clothes would look on you.

We do not use your face photo for facial recognition, biometric identification, advertising, analytics, or any purpose other than generating outfit images for you.

3c. Third-Party Sharing of Face Data

Your face photo is shared with one third-party service: Google LLC, via the Google Generative AI API (Gemini models). This data is transmitted securely over HTTPS and is processed by Google solely to generate the requested image. Google does not use data sent through the Generative AI API to train its models. Your face photo is not shared with any other third party.

3d. Storage of Face Data

Your face photo is stored in encrypted cloud storage (Cloudflare R2) and is associated with your user account. Photos are not stored locally on our servers beyond temporary processing (files are created in memory during image generation and immediately deleted afterward).

3e. Retention and Deletion of Face Data

Your face photo is retained for as long as your account is active. You may delete it at any time from the Settings page — deletion is immediate from both our cloud storage and database. If you delete your account, your face photo is permanently deleted within 30 days. Google does not retain data submitted through the Generative AI API after processing is complete.

3f. Your Consent

Before uploading a face photo, the app presents a disclosure explaining that your photos will be sent to Google's AI service for outfit image generation. You must explicitly agree to this before any face photo is uploaded or processed. You may decline and still use the app without a face photo.

4. Other AI Processing

In addition to your face photo, the following data may be sent to Google's Generative AI API (Google Gemini) to provide the Service:

  • Items item images and descriptions
  • Profile data (gender, age, height, weight, style preferences)
  • Chat messages when using the outfit creation or items assistant

This data is processed solely to generate outfit recommendations and images. Google does not use data sent through the Generative AI API to train its models. No data is shared with any other AI provider.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using industry-standard encryption. Photos are stored in encrypted cloud storage (Cloudflare R2). All data transmitted to third-party services is sent over HTTPS. We implement reasonable security measures to protect your information, but no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data with:

  • Google LLC (Google Generative AI API) — for outfit image generation and style recommendations. Google does not use this data to train its models.
  • Cloudflare Inc. — for encrypted cloud storage of photos and images
  • Law enforcement when required by law

All third-party service providers are contractually required to protect your data and use it only to provide services on our behalf.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Delete your face photo at any time from Settings
  • Delete your account and all associated data
  • Export your data
  • Opt out of non-essential communications

8. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we will delete your personal data, including your face photo and items images, within 30 days. Some anonymized usage data may be retained for analytics purposes.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or in-app notice. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
